Five Signs It's Time to Rebuild — Not Replace — Your Pump

When a pump starts underperforming, the instinct is to replace it. But a rebuild is often faster, cheaper, and just as reliable. Watch for these signs.

One: rising energy use with the same output. Worn wear rings and impellers force the motor to work harder — a classic rebuild candidate.

Two: new noise or vibration. This frequently traces back to bearings or a misaligned coupling, both routine rebuild items.

Three: seal leaks. A weeping mechanical seal is a maintenance item, not a reason to scrap the whole unit.

Four: reduced flow or pressure. Internal clearances open up over time; restoring them brings performance back.
